Lover's Leap Ceylon tea garden situated on the foothills of Nuwara Eilya district, Srilanka just below the Lovers Leap waterfall.
A tragic legend of two lovers is borrowed from the Lover's Leap waterfall.
The legend is that there was once a prince who hunted a pretty woman.
The two fell deeply in love immediately, but they could not become lovers, since the maid had no aristocratic descent. Devastated at the thought of living apart, and determined to be together forever, the pair went to the top of the waterfall and pledged to one another their everlasting love, held hands and leapt to death.
Why it's a great Cup of Tea (Chai) ?
Lovers Leap tea has a fascinating and real story behind it. The tea is grown in the Pedro Tea Estate Nuwara Eliya, one of Ceylon's most inspiring and captivating tea plantations.
The area is Sri Lanka's highest tea growing area, and the estate is located 6000 ft above sea level.NuwaraEliya is known for its rough terrain and crisp mountain air scented with eucalyptus and wild mint. The environment of moderate rainfall and frosty nights creates a unique microclimate for the production of a tea that is known to acquaintances as one of the finest in the world.
The dry weather during the months of February and March, along with the winds blowing from the southwest of Sri Lanka, helps to produce a tea that is considerably lighter in body but fuller in taste. The result is a color in a cup that is bright golden yellow with a taste of citrus, winter green and unmistakable eucalyptus and a note of mint on the back pallet. The tea is best served plain or with a slice of lemon.
Lovers Leap tea can be enjoyed during Afternoon Tea at The Milestone hotel.
