Devarapalli Prakash Rao is one of three Odisha individuals who was honored with the fourth-highest civilian award in India, the Padma Shri. He got a phone call from Delhi at 11:30 p.m. that he was granted the fourth highest civilian award by the government.

You may think he must be a wealthy, powerful guy. But he's just a seller of Tea. He operates a tea-stall in the busy Buxi Bazar area of Cuttack city. He was shocked to receive the news he was honored with such prestigious honor. It is a huge accomplishment for him who was forced to leave school because of poverty before completing class 10.

59 year old Tea seller is no ordinary Person.
He gives slum kids education and food. 
He has a good command over 8 different languages and makes use of his skills to educate the society's poor children. 
Half of his profits from tea sales he contributed to setting up and running a school – 'Asha O Ashwasana,' Cuttack. 
Worked since the age of 7 and suffered from lower torso paralysis.
Donated blood 200+ times and platelets 7 times since 1978
During prime minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Cuttack in 2018 , he was touched by Rao’s initiative and also praised  him in “Man Ki Baat” address.
In the language of Mr Rao ,
“PM Modi has recognized my contribution to society ,that’s my biggest achievement”.
