Meet Somnath Giram, who
cracked competitive the Chartered Accountant (CA ) exam and has been appointed as
the brand ambassador of Maharashtra’s government "earn & learn" scheme. His

“Success necessitates sacrifice.”― Habeeb Akande
Giram
hails from Sangavi village, about 100 km from Pune, in Karmala taluka of
Solapur district. HE belongs to
a very poor farmer family. He migrated to Pune after completing his 12th class
in the village as his family was unable to bear his education cost.
“The
drought and economically poor condition of my family forced me to leave the
home. I began selling tea and sent money home,” Somnath recalled his struggle
days.

He
began selling tea near Perugate police chowky in Sadashiv Peth area of the city
and also enrolled himself in college. He was hard working and determined. During day time he sells
tea and at night he studies till 2AM, even it is too difficult to study after
standing the whole day at the tea stall.
“There is no shortcut for hard work that leads to effectiveness. You must stay disciplined because most of the work is behind the scenes.”― Germany Kent
Later
he enrolled himself in Shri Shahu Mandir Mahavidyalaya in Parvati and completed
B.com and went on to study M.com from Garware College. Finally, he cracked the CA exam, one of the
most difficult exams in India.
“It takes many years to become an overnight success.”― Frank Sonnenberg,
His struggle has
impressed Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis who finds him the most
appropriate aam aadmi(common man) to boost the state’s
education campaign. He has been roped in by the BJP-led government
to motivate students across universities in the state by narrating his
inspiring story. But that’s not all, he himself is inspired by Prime
Minister Narendra Modi. In the future, he aims to join politics and
serve as the state’s finance minister.
But the story does not
end here. We can say this is the travesty of justice of God. He became
paralyzed from the waist down after meeting an accident in Solapur. He was
rushed to the Sancheti Hospital here. Considering
his economically weak background the government has decided to bear all the
medical expenses. The hospital said. "He met with a (road) accident
in Solapur on Thursday and received spinal injury. Due to the injury, his
lower part of the body has been completely paralyzed," said the managing
director of Sancheti Hospital, Dr. Parag Sancheti. "He is out of
danger and after two days, the decision about the operation will be
taken," he added.
